Do you wake up in the middle of the night wondering if you paid a bill or not? Oh, that's just me? Well, I had this happen one too many times and decided I would come up with a simple solutions that was visible to the whole household.
- Hole Punch
- 3x5 Cards
I wrote a list of the bills that I have each month, the recurring ones, with a check mark next to them. There is a card for each month, with some months having special bills added that are either yearly, bimonthly or quarterly. As I pay the bills I just check them off.
That's it. That makes me sleep like a baby and not wake in a "did I pay it" panic.
The other problem is that I have had bills not come. Most of my bills are digital (I check these off too), but a few of them still send paper in the mail because either I am unwilling to go digital with them or that is just how they roll. When a bill doesn't surface through my mailbox during the month I can see that it isn't paid in one glance. No more panicking looking for bills that might not have ended up on my desk.
This is a simple hack, but it has made my life much less stressful.
