One of the new agey things I believe is Affirmations. Thinking makes all the difference in life and the stories we tell ourselves seem to be as important as what is actually happening. Most people I talk with have pretty negative or scared stories running around in their heads. They aren't good enough, they can't do anything right, no one really likes them - you would be surprised what people tell themselves. I assume it is all old family stuff and we are just unable to get those messages easily out of our little brains.
There is a different way. You can tell yourself every single day that you are good enough, that you are loved, that you are strong, healthy and that your life is going perfectly. Sure, it may not always look like that on the outside. Heck, you might not even believe it, but the idea of repeating kinder words to yourself might just have an impact on how you see the world.
I am all about being honest and real about situations, but I am also just as gung ho about reframing them into more positive scenarios. That power to lift situations into the a better view has had an amazing impact on my ability to take risks, deal with huge amounts of stress, and always - like a cat - land on my feet.
I made these affirmation cards for my daughter for Valentine's Day. She is in college and although a pretty perky person life can be hard sometimes. I can't be there all of the time to cheer her on and, really, you need to learn to cheer yourself on. You can download these free cards for your use and learn to plant good stories in your own life and be your own cheerleader. Download AffirmationCards
